The pieces I showed a couple of days ago have come together into a 3D shape. I'm still waiting for some hardware for the strap and need to bury some threads but this Redwood tote is nearly complete (pattern by @noodlehead531).

What I'm working on today is a Redwood tote (a @noodlehead531 pattern). I had fabrics pulled and pieces partially cut since over a year so it feels satisfying to finally move forward with this. Aren't the blue waxed canvas and the black canvas print are a perfect match?

Hello Sunday! It's cool here today, which is a bit sad because I just finished sewing a new summer dress that I was excited to try out... But of course it is just a matter of time until it'll get very hot here and I should probably use these cooler days to do some running outside.

To celebrate one finish, I'm starting a new quilt (wip #20??).

Charity quilt #3 for this year. I can't take credit for the nice fabric choices as they were already beautifully curated in one of our guilds charity bundles. This bundle was fittingly called "Hope".

A few members of my quilt guild started a wonderful project called "Wrapped in Love for Justice", where we make group quilts for leaders and organizers of social justice movements as a gesture of appreciation and recognition. I think it's a really sweet project and I'm grateful to be able to contribute.

It's May! Already? Time flies, especially in spring... Last month passed quickly and, in terms of sewing, felt fairly productive. I think in part it's because for me the weight of the pandemic is starting to lift (as of last week in fully vaccinated and tomorrow I'm leaving the window where I need to be on the lookout for side effects). It hasn't fully settled in that I can start visiting friends... The situation of course also remains complicated. So many places don't have access to enough vaccine and the devastating outbreak in India is heartbreaking.

This is my block for the virtual #postcardquilt inspired by the fabulous postcard from @loreleimacb (Swipe for an image of the block together with the card).

This quilt top is finally finished and it's BIG!! 90 inch tall and 80 inch wide (that's apparently my boyfriends wing span). I'm so happy with how it looks, but I was already struggling to photograph it, so I have no idea how I'll baste and quilt it 😬 Any tips are welcome.

Progress on the postcard quilt block so far. My love for dogwood flowers might be coming through here... It's been refreshing to just cut, sew, press -- following the flow instead of carefully executing a plan. Swipe for progress shots of these improvisationally pieced petals.

Look what came in the mail the other day? This fun and fresh postcard was made by Lorelei @loreleimacb as part of the postcard quilt project organized by @zakfoster.quilts and @amandanadigart. I love this color palette (coincidentally it's not too different from the one in the postcard I made for Lorelei 🌱🌸).

Happy earth day! I see earth day as a much needed reminder that we all, particularly those of us living in highly industrialized countries, need to start shifting our lifestyle to be more sustainable. It is our responsibility toward those that are already critically affected by climate change and pollution, to future generations and all life on this planet.
